After many years of planning the former landfill at Goole was granted planning permission in 2007 as an MRF, transfer station and hazardous waste facility.

The site at Goole is a former landfill, which Myutm & Selby are currently recycling, this is an extremely innovative project and is the first of its kind in the UK, showing Mytum & Selby’s true dedication to landfill diversion, waste recycling and reuse.
The excavation company ‘Halls Ltd’ began work early February 2010 and are still working there to date. They are to remove the old landfill and re-use/recycle all the aggregate materials on-site for levelling, bunding, landscaping and for the final construction. All the waste material where possible, will be removed and recycled. Plastics, metals and other recyclates will be dealt with by Mytum & Selby. Woods and organic matters which are responsible for green house gases will be removed and sent to the Maltings Organic Treatment - IVC composting process. Other materials will be stored on-site and dealt with as required.

The final stage of the planning once the landfill has been completely removed is to build a state of the art waste recycling facility, with other proposals already in planning for the future, which will include energy from waste and product manufacture.

The site is scheduled for environmental sign off and complete fill removal by February 2011, after which plans for the construction will be announced and work will begin on the multimillion pound build.
