Aims to cut Commercial and Industrial Waste

A new scheme has been recently announced by the recycling minister Lord Henley that will allow voluntary contracts for businesses that are designed to reduce the amount of commercial and industrial waste and minimise the need for further regulation.

The scheme is aimed at reducing both industrial and commercial waste and increase the levels of waste that is recycled, the agreement will see that businesses take responsibility for the sustainable disposal of all waste generated by their operations.

It is thought that the Government believes both householders and businesses should be encouraged to take responsibility for sustainable waste management practices.

The new voluntary responsibility deals will work by promoting healthy competition among businesses and will likely offer incentives for  firms that reduce their waste levels and increase recycling targets.
